Which was the first Elder Scrolls game you played?

Hunt --> Kill --> Skin --> Cook

I think I may have written about killing innocent animals several times before, but since everyone enjoys partaking in inhuman acts of animal cruelty, lets pack the topic into yet another package!

As I've mentioned before, I am quite keen on the whole "hunting" aspect of RPG's, but unfortunately the closest we've ever got to a decent system is Gothic III, which was basically one big bug. Hunting in Oblivion was doable, but not all that satisfying, since it was far from being an intended aspect.

All that will now change, with Skyrim being released on Friday! As it turns out, there's now a point in hunting critters, apart from the mere joy of ending the lives of pristine animals, whilst shouting "Death by arrow!" (No, using flames is not hunting!)
Now we can get meat, which we can use for cooking, on which we can earn a couple of bucks - Ka-Ching!
Moreover we can also use the pelts to wrap around the handle of our trusty weapon, in order to do something! (I have no fricken clue as to what it does.)

Finally, reassuringly enough, one of the journalists who have had the pleasure of already playing the game, has assured us that hunting deer, or elk, or whatever, is fricken entertaining. Also, you can run into other hunters out in the wild, kill them and take their loot - or not; But I think I know which option you'd prefer.

  1. Well, that's really amazing. Already going to be great, and they keep telling us more amazing things. The skin around the handle may be to reduce recoil? Or something of the sort. (Able to swing faster... Idk) Anyway, I will gladely shoot an arrow through someones spine and take their loot. For my brotherhood...

    Oh and thanks for the post Mcbraas. I'm really looking forward to hunting now. =D

  2. You're quite welcome, Jace. All I desire in return is your joy and later on, your soul.

    I'll keep them coming.

  3. My soul is a small price to pay for such amazing information. I'm so glad I stumbled on this site cause you sir, are the best I've seen do this. Other I guess you can call them "Bloggers" I really can't stand, at times it's like I want to smack them through the internet, but I love reading your posts. They are entertaining, and very, very informative. I now know like 300% more about Skyrim then I previously did. All thanks to you.

  4. Braas, could you do me a favour? could you perhaps maybe dgging up some information for your favourite gothic friend? I need to know if the release date is being postponed in South Africa. And just because I'm in South Africa doesn't mean I have an African skin. Don't be racist. Plus, african goths? Haha

  6. Well Chris, it seems as if South Africa will hit on 11.11.11 - I think that some places in Asia they will see a little kickback, but South Africa should be fine.

    Women don't like it when you fantasize either.

  8. I'm suddenly very curious on how authentic it will feel if you attempt to pursue a normal life in Skyrim. Renting a room in an inn, hunting to collect food and hides to sell. Finally buying your first house then joining a guild and doing some exploring. Defending the town from dragons. Wow, that will feel amazing, defending your home town from a dragon.
